Hello everyone,
I just wanted to post an update of what has been going on with Brian since Christmas night. He has been having episodes of autonomic dysreflexia every day with a rise in blood pressure and very bad headaches. We have been in contact with our family doctors and we were in the ER for 6 hours with no resolution. We reached out to our physiatrist in Baltimore, and working with our family doctor, determined a problem which he has been treated for. However, his blood pressure and the headaches have continued, causing him lots of intense pain. He has not been able to sleep, which means Steve and I are not getting much sleep either. Tomorrow we’re going to be taking him to a specialist to see if we can find out what is causing the autonomic dysreflexia. It’s very concerning since Brian has never had episodes of this in 10 years and now it is happening every day. This condition can be life threatening for spinal cord injury patients which is why we are so very concerned as well as not wanting Brian to suffer so much.
On a more positive note, the video site where Brian was interviewed has had over two thousand views. This is really giving him exposure as Robert Stern has said, so that he may get more speaking engagements.
Another positive note is information we received tonight from the company in Baltimore. Brian goes to Restorative Therapies several times a year to demonstrate their equipment. Back in the fall he was working on a film clip that was going to appear on television demonstrating the functional electrical stimulation bike. We received word that the six minute clip is going to be shown by the Fox Business network tonight at 10:29 PM. I am not sure what channel that will be on. I hope you can find it to watch it.
Please continue to keep Brian and us in prayers as we get over this very rough spot in our lives.
